Journey of the Car Battery

IMG_1014So after walking a hundred miles at Comic Con Saturday and Sunday, I find out my car won’t start Monday morning.  I asked the contractor next door if he could jump me.  Nothing.  So with no other transportation, I walked to Wal-Mart, in the rain.  I wasn’t prepared for just how heavy a car battery was so I asked a Wal-Mart manager if I could borrow one of their carts.  They said ok but bring it back.  So again in the pouring rain, I walked the 2.5 miles back to my house.

I wasn’t able to install the battery but was able to jump it successfully.  I loaded up the cart in my car and drove it back to Wal-Mart.  Some asshole firefighter rode my ass and even pulled me over as I tried to wave him past. Apparently he thought he could do what he wanted seeing that I had half of a Wal-Mart cart hanging out the back of my car. He gives me some nonsense and I’m finally back on the road wondering what the hell that was all about.  Dumped the cart back off at Wal-Mart, found out Wal-Mart wouldn’t install my battery because there is a Ford Fusion hybrid out there that if you install a traditional battery in it, it will wreck the car’s electronics.  The local mechanic (apparently oblivious to the Fusion issues) installed the new battery for cheap in about an hour and I was back in business.  Longest Monday ever.
