RIP Leonard Nimoy

Leonard Nimoy always added gravitas to whatever project he was working on.  I’ve also heard he was friendly and professional throughout his entire career.  Leonard-Nimoy-with-his-dachshundHe will be missed.

Here is one of my favorites: Mr. Nimoy with his dachshund.

Emily seems to be enjoying her time in her Emily house.  I’ve even set her up with a water bottle to help with her drinking water (she dials everything up to 11, so after she drinks water, she burps it up from the exertion of running).

Emily comes home from the hospital!!!!

The vet said Emily was biting at her cage today; they took her off the oxygen and responded very well.  So, right before the snow hit — I got to pick up Emily, wrapped her up in her hoot owl blanket, and brought her home.  Immediately, she jumped up and gave me lickies all over my face.  I was so happy to see her!

Emily is in the hospital – Day 2 (Valentine’s Day)

IMG_0330So it’s Valentine’s Day and I’m without my puppy.  It’s hard, having just lost Emma.  My mind, of course wanders to what happened, did I do anything, and thoughts of the worst.  It’s only been a week and I’ve grown extremely attached to this little tiny lovable puppy.

The vet has called and continues to give me a good report.  She seems to be responding well but won’t say when she’ll be able to come home.

I’ve decided to make the house as clean and puppy accessible for her.

Right now, her toys sit waiting.

I miss my puppy.

Emily is in the hospital

Friday morning Emily ran out of the bedroom and was wandering in the living room — I wake up to find her crunching the rest of her food out of her bowl.  I pick her up and we sleep on the couch.  She wakes me up with what I thought was the hiccups.  Instead she was retching, unable to hold her water (which she had been struggling with all week), and she’s obviously having some respiratory distress with her poor little lungs inflating and deflating rapidly.

I rush her to the ER — they tell me she might not make it and they need to run some tests.  After having just lost Emma dog, I’m really upset at this point.  They finally tell me they suspect she has aspirated pneumonia.  They put her on oxygen and treat her with an IV.

Later that day they tell me she’s stabilized but they still need to watch her closely.

Poor little puppy.
